Lebanon Family YMCA CampFrom June 8th to June 12th 2009 the JTDF and the Lebanon Family YMCA conducted a soccer camp for 37 students from Harding and Northwest Elementary schools in Lebanon, PA. Cedar Cup

May 21st 2009 was a great day of soccer. The Cedar Cup was introduced to 86 students from Harding and Northwest Elementary Schools from Lebanon, PA. The day spear headed by the JTDF, Lebanon Valley College, and Ms. Champion, principal of Harding Elementary school was a day of great magnitude. It was the first organized tournament played by many of the participants. The tournament pitted Harding vs Northwest in soccer and character. Teams played 3v3 soccer. Each team could receive 1 point for a win, 1 point for teamwork and 1 point for sportsmanship. Individual team awards were given, but the accumulation and average of points were calculated to decide which school would hold the Cedar Cup for the year.

After a great day of soccer and teamwork, Harding Elementary school was crowned the Cedar Cup Champions.

The JTDF would like to thank the parent volunteers, Harding and Northwest Elementary school teachers and staff, Lebanon High School soccer players, Super Nova FC soccer players, CPYSL, and the Lebanon Valley College men’s and women’s soccer players who volunteered their time to make the Cedar Cup a great success.

The JTDF Winter Soccer Training Program

The JTDF Winter Soccer Training Program model is based around the mission and philosophy of The JT Dorsey Foundation, which is to provide service to at risk youth and their families in the areas of education and wellness, while nurturing and educating children in social and financial need. Our goal is to help these children grow up and lead fulfilling and productive lives. The program's core statement is that “the best soccer players cannot succeed without an education.”

During this winter season, we were able to provide soccer training, as well as academic tutoring and support, to 24 student athletes from the Harrisburg Youth Soccer Club.  These students received professional soccer skills training from JT Dorsey and John Strange and academic assistance from Christine Glover and Denni Boger.  This program took place at In the Net Sports Complex from December 2006 through March 2007.

LVC Camp“The LVC soccer programs are happy to have the opportunity to provide camp opportunities to players through the JT Dorsey Foundation. Seeing the smiles on these kids faces as they participate in camp activities makes it all worth it, they have such a pure enjoyment for the game!”
