The JT Dorsey Foundation Scholarship

2007 JT Dorsey Founcation Scholarship Winner - Jessica Bennett

The JT Dorsey Foundation is proud to announce the 2009 scholarship winner, Luis Cruz. Luis is a graduate of Harrisburg’s Sci-tech High School and played for the Harrisburg High Schools soccer team. Luis was involved with the Latino Heritage Club, NAACP, National Honor Society, Mock Trial Club, Robotics Team, Math Club, Music Club and the International Students Club while in school.  He also volunteers and works as a mentor coach with the JTDF and is involved in many community affairs at school and in the community. Luis will be attending Point Park University in the Fall, where he will study broadcasting and communications.


ELIGIBILITY: A minimum of one $500 scholarship to be applied toward post secondary education will be awarded to one qualifying graduating boy and girl from a registered Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League participant each year.  To qualify an applicant must meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Successful participation in a qualified CPYSL soccer program
  • Successful completion of high school (award made upon graduation)
  • Proof of admission/enrollment in an accredited post secondary institution (not required with application but must show proof of admission to receive the award)
  • Completed and timely application
  • Financial need (but not required)

PAYMENTS

Players will receive their scholarship at the conclusion of the summer season (in the year in which they graduate).

 

A special appointed committee will be formed to review all applications and the winners will be announced in June.  All decisions made by the committee are final.
